Home Selling: From Listing Agreement to Contract

Preparing Your House for Showing

Appearances really are everything. You want your home to be as clean and inviting as possible. It will take some work, but you’ll be amazed (and pleased) at the returns on a small investment of time.

Listing Agreement

Before we actively market your home, you’ll need to sign a listing agreement. The agreement defines the relationship between Corus and you, spelling out exactly what we’ll do, plus our commission.

Showing Your Home

By putting a lockbox on your door, Corus will give access to all licensed real estate agents. This enables more realtors to show your home to prospective buyers. While they’ll have access to your home throughout the day, you can specify the hours of showing and request that they call before coming.

As an alternative, we can list your home "by appointment only." No lockbox would be needed. Any realtor could make an appointment with Corus, and we would meet them and their clients at your house. While this approach gives you more privacy, it gives realtors less access and reduces the number of people who see your property.

Multiple Listing Services (MLS)

Most homes are listed for sale in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). MLS is the mother lode of local real estate. It’s accessible to agents everywhere, plus to the public through websites like Corus.com. Normally, each listing comes with a photo, map, price and extensive details on the home, along with detailed instructions for showing.
